Tuesday

Well today was my second day of radiation and it went better than the first day. I was very scared the first time but it was ok. Today after they did my cat scan they put on my mask and fastened it to the table so I am unable to move. It is very important that I do not move then they strap me down with three different straps but I am still able to move my arms if I have to. They let me draw a funny face on my mask I put great big eyes with long eyelashes and great big lips. Today after they were all finished with this strapping down and stuff they let my mom in the room where they watch me on the computers. I have to be alone in the room due to the radiation rays. Mom said she could see my eyes moving and the radiation machine was moving in big circles around me and my table was moving in a circle the opposite direction it was pretty cool. It only last for about 15 minutes and I am finished. They play music for me while I am in the room. Mom said she cried at first but the ladies and men who were in the room talked to her and it made her feel better about what was taking place. They are all so proud that I do not have to be put to sleep or take Meds. to relax me. The doc. does not want me to have to be put to sleep everyday. Yes, I will be loosing hair but it's ok I have cool hats. Mom watches all night to see if I am having any side effects. I take meds. three times a day to help with vomiting and headaches. I have been having hiccups again and thats one symptom I was having before they discovered this monster. The tumor is pressing on a nerve that causes me to have hiccups and vomiting. I haven't started that yet. My palet was burning this morning but the doc. says that does happen but he doesn't think that is why mine is burning yet it might be because of sinuses.

Monday

Today was my first day of treatment I was very scared, but I not sure about tomorrow. I was very scared and couldn't wait to see Mom and Dad. All I kept thinking about was my hair, is it falling out yet. Mom pulled on it just alittle to let me know things were OK. I have another treatment at 3:00 on Tuesday and 28 more after. I will loose hair just not sure how much. I have more pictures to post today I am just tired. I hold on to my cross my great Aunt Liz gave me. I will send more info. with pictures, but I am going to bed.

Ms.Theresa, I wasn't sure if you were going to send the test to me or not. I haven't been very busy with school YES I LIKE IT HA!! I do like the school work here not very hard. I miss you and my friends . Love all the cards I receive daily. I can't wait to see video and please tell friends Hi for me. I have a letter for you and the class will put it in the mail. Hello to everybody---

Today my two older brothers and sister arrived to visit it was so great to see them walk in the hospital. I took them to my favorite place of course HUEY'S for burgers. It's great to see them I was very lonesome.

We went to the Peabody to see the ducks and look at their castle.HA! Then we received a call from my Doctor saying they are ready to start my treatments and wanted me to go over to the hospital as soon as possible for a trial run. Mom cried of course but it was nice to have family with us. I think I will be able to do this without Meds. to put me to sleep the Dr. says it will be better for me for several Medical reasons, but thats another story. They let me paint a cute face on my mask with long eyelashes and big lips. I know mom will cry Monday because it will be the real thing they will put the X's on my head at 3:00 then start radiation at 3:45 alittle scared, but I am in good hands.

Ms. Theresa you got me very scared when I read you kept the test then mom started laughing I guess I don't have to take them this year. But my teacher here is giving me homework it's easy right now. I have a spelling test tomorrow. Thank you'll for the package it's like Christmas when I hear from my friends at St Edward's the staff here at Target House say my room is so cute I post all my cards on the wall and you can't see the walls very well right now all you see is cards and pictures. Please tell all my friends Hi for me and I miss them very much.. I wish I was home right now.

Well today they made my new mask for radiation I have to wear it while I am on the table and they strap me down so I can't move at all it's very important so I don't get radiation other places. Mom rushed me to the hospital again she gets very scared when I do anything that might be different. I am starting to have a little problem swallowing again but the Dr.'s expected this to happen. I am ok. Mom just panics.

TUESDAY

TODAY I HAD ONE MRI AND SCHOOL. I AM GETTING LONESOME FROM MY SCHOOL AND FAMILY AND FRIENDS. IT WILL BE GOOD TO SEE MY BROTHER AND SISTER THIS WEEKEND I AM VERY HAPPY. THINGS ARE WELL AND MY MOM THINKS SHE HAS TO ENTERTAIN ME ALL THE TIME. TARGET HOUSE IS STILL NICE AND THE HOSPITAL IS OK. I WAS ABLE TO DANCE WITH SOME COLLEGE STUDENTS TODAY AND THAT WAS FUN THEY WERE HERE TO ENTERTAIN US. I AM STARTING TO FEEL A FEW SIDE EFFECTS SINCE I AM OFF MY STEROIDS BUT MY DR. WANTS TO WAIT TO PUT ME BACK ON THEM. HE WANTS ME TO START RADIATION AND WAIT TO SEE IF THERE WILL BE SWELLING THEN USE THE STEROIDS TO DECREASE THE SWELLING. ALOT TO UNDERSTAND BUT THINGS REALLY HAPPEN FAST OVER HERE. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO CHECK THE MAIL YET TODAY STILL AT HOSPITAL BUT AS SOON AS I GET BACK I WILL. I AM TIRED TODAY AND I HAVE HAD AN IV IN MY ARM FOR TWO DAYS READY TO TAKE IT OUT. MOM SAYS HI TO EVERYBODY AND SENDS LOVE.

Tuesday

I had a fun weekend. My two aunts came over with my grandma and we had lot's of fun shopping for hats and listening to music. Thank you for the cookies, Jamie. I have been receiving so many cards and gifts from school I look forward to checking the mail daily. Thank you to all my classmates and teachers for taking the time to do this for me. I post all my cards on the wall in my room. OH I LOVED THE PICTURES YOU'LL SENT ME. There are so many people out there who have taken the time to send me cards. I am really starting to miss school, but my teacher here has been very nice. Thank you to my friends at Highland Baptist it was very nice of you'll to think of me.
Well in the past two days I have had three MRI'S and two CAT SCANS. They have made my new mask for radiation and I look very funny. I will now be having a treatment called cone-beam treatment because it's better for my type of tumor and it's location. More than likely the setting up process will be over this week and treatment will start Monday. Yes, I am very nervous because long term side effects will not be a problem it's the short term problems that scare me. LOVE AND MISS ALL DANIELLE

I SO SORRY I HAVE BEEN AWAY BUT I AM BACK. WE HAVE NEW NEWS ABOUT HER NEXT STEP AND THAT WILL BE RADIATION. WELL THAT SHOULD START NEXT WEEK; HOWEVER, WE NOW HAVE TO REDO ALL HER MRI'S AND ANOTHER ONE OF HER SPINE TO MAKE SURE IT'S CLEAN, BUT WE ALL KNOW IT WILL TURN UP OK. SHE HAS A LONG JOURNEY AHEAD, BUT WITH ALL THE PRAYERS AND SWEET CARDS AND GIFTS AND DAILY CALLS I KNOW SHE WILL GET THROUGH THIS JUST FINE. WE THANK EVERYBODY FOR PRAYING, AND PLEASE DON'T STOP. Thursday 3/12/09

Well today was a good day. My apt. with the Dr.'s went great. It could have been worse. But thanks to all the prayers from family, friends, and prayer groups, churches, Father Manny, and the list goes on and on and on. Dr. Boop and Dr. Vivvian, Dr.Gajjar, told me it's a slow growing, low grade tumor. It has not spread to any other parts of my body and my spine looks clear. We will start radiation ASAP and hope to make it smaller. If needed in time we will have to do alittle cemo., but for now it looks like radiation will be enough. The Doctor says this type of tumor does not spread but can grow to be larger. If that was to happen that would not be good, so we must try to make it smaller or even go away if possible. I will be here for 6 to 7 more weeks maybe longer depending on the treatments and the outcomes. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR ME AND ALL THE OTHER CHILDREN AT ST.JUDES WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. WE ALL HAVE SO MUCH HOPE AND THAT CAN GO A LONG WAY HERE. Wednesday march 10,2009

Today was a boring day I didn't have any meetings taday. My dad is on his way to visit and he is coming with my dog. I am very excited to see him. I love my dog very much and my dad of course. My cut is healing well, but the steriods they are giving me for the healing and swelling is making me gain so much weight. When I watch TV and it's a cooking show I can taste the food. Mom tells me I can eat as much as I want. I love pasta and eat almost a box of bow tie pasta for breakfast. Tomorrow I will be meeting with the dr.'s to get my biopsy reports back doesn't that sound fun. I am ok but I would rather be home. Next will be lot's of radiation and lot's of cemo. but I have faith and there are alot of people praying for me right now. Thank You for the messages and all the prayers I could use them right now.

Today was a good day. I went to school at St. Judes. We did multiplication and reading. My teacher is very very very nice. I go back in the morning.

Scooby Hard At Work

Good Day!!! No appointments today!

I had a good day. I went to the movies with mom dad and nannie hailey. We watched Madia goes to jail. It was funny. I also baked brownies and watched mamma mia! and ate gumbo. My mom cooked it. It was good. I am going to school at St. Judes tommorrow. Thanks for the cards I got in the mail today. Talk to you later! Love you!

All the doctors, nurses, and people have been wonderful at St. Judes. Their is one special friend I have here. Dr. Theresa Sheppard (pediatrics) has been special, she even came to visit me with her son Zac at the hospital. She brought me a bunch of great gifts and sends me messages often. Thank you very much. I always smile when I see your messages.

And Ms. Crystal who painted my nails, thank you for the phone call after surgery. I love you!!!!

I had a rough evening yesterday. I was not feeling very good, and I had to go to the clinic last night. The doctors told me I was ok, and that I could go back to Target House. I am trying to get a lot of rest. When I got back, I had these wonderful gifts waiting for me. It made my night. Thank You very much!!!!

Fourth Day after surgery, and Danielle get's to leave the hospital!

Danielle is feeling a whole lot better today. She was able to do physical therapy today, and go shopping in the gift shop with Kristen and Nannie Hailey. She also got to play with Abby, the hospital dog. After lunch, the doctor said that she was doing so good that she could go home. We are now back at the Target House, getting rest and Danielle is watching TV ( Harry Potter) on the couch. She wants me to tell all her family, neighbors, friends, and classmates at school that she misses them very much, and she thinks about them often.

Tomorrow, Danielle has a doctor's appointment at St. Judes with the oncologist. Please continue to say prayers for a speedy recovery. Thanks again for keeping in touch.

Third Day

Well it's the third day after the biopsy and Danielle is improving more and more each day. This morning was a little tough but as the day went on it got a little easier. Today she stood up and took a ride in a wheelchair around the hospital. She was able to see the snow still on the ground and window shop at the gift shop. She also got up and walked to the bathroom a couple of times!!! Her appetite is also back and she had her favorite Chinese for supper tonight. Right now she has her 3D glasses on and watching Hannah Montana thanks to Dr. Theresa and Zachary. Hope you enjoyed the new pictures and there will be more to follow.
